Check a claim against the record

How we answer

No truth scores from a model's gut. We answer from OUR facts: the verdict states what our record supports, contradicts, or is contested on, and every fact behind it is signed and linked. Publishers are counted one by one (syndication is not collapsed). Instruments are counted independently (news, prediction markets, government prints, seismographs). Every line links to its receipt. Absence of evidence is stated as absence, never as a verdict.

What a verdict means

Every verdict names our record as its subject, never the world.

• Our record supports this: Weighed fact lines carry the claim, and the receipts behind them are on the page.
• Our record contradicts this: The weighed fact lines say something different, and each one is linked to its receipt.
• Our record is contested on this: Publishers in the record carry conflicting versions; the page shows both sides rather than picking one.
• Our record partly supports this: Part of the claim is carried by the record and part of it is not; the split is shown, not averaged away.
• Not in our record: The absence of evidence, stated plainly. It is not a finding that the claim is false, and a fresh claim may simply not have reached the record yet.
• Not a checkable claim: A value judgment, a bare topic, or a question: there is nothing in it that a record can weigh.
• In our record: The record carries material on the claim and it is listed below, but the written direction is still being composed.
